URL encoder and decoder

Encode text for use in a URL or decode a percent-encoded string back to readable text. Encode a single value (encodeURIComponent) or a whole URL while keeping its structure (encodeURI). Paste a URL to see it split into protocol, host, path and a table of its query parameters.

Private: your files never leave your device.

How to use URL encoder / decoder

  1. Step 1: Choose Encode or Decode.

  2. Step 2: Paste the text or URL.

  3. Step 3: Copy the result, or read the URL’s parts below it.

Frequently asked questions

What’s the difference between encoding a value and a whole URL?

A value (like a search term) must encode everything that has a meaning in URLs, such as & = ? /. A whole URL keeps those characters so the link still works.

Why does + become a space when decoding?

In form submissions and query strings a + stands for a space, so Toola treats it that way when decoding.

Does it handle Georgian letters?

Yes. Text is encoded as UTF-8, the standard for URLs, so Georgian and emoji round-trip correctly.
