UUID generator
Create universally unique identifiers with the browser’s cryptographic random generator. Choose version 4 (fully random, the usual choice) or version 7 (starts with a timestamp, so IDs sort by creation time — ideal for database keys). Make up to 1,000 at a time, upper or lower case, with or without hyphens.
Private: your files never leave your device.
Version 4: 122 random bits from the browser’s cryptographic generator. The usual choice.
How to use UUID generator
Step 1: Pick v4 or v7 and how many you need.
Step 2: Choose upper case or hyphens if your system needs them.
Step 3: Copy or download the list; press Generate again for new ones.
Frequently asked questions
Are these UUIDs unique?
Version 4 has 122 random bits: the chance of two ever colliding is negligible. Version 7 adds the time in milliseconds before 74 random bits.
Is a GUID the same as a UUID?
Yes — GUID is Microsoft’s name for the same 128-bit identifier.
Why use v7?
Because they increase over time, v7 IDs keep database indexes compact and fast, unlike random v4 IDs.
